The Marines have the situation in order.

Michael J. Totten is an independent journalist and an amazing writer. He has consistently represented a clear picture of Iraq at great personal risk to himself and I think he's a damn hero. In a recent article, Michael is talking about the current atmosphere in Fallujah - something that definitely isn't being talked about enough in the mainstream media. There is also some rather interesting coverage of a Marine unit's sign in Fallujah "Have a plan to kill everyone you meet." Marines are an extraordinary breed. Our ways are easily misunderstood, but we remain the finest fighting organization the world has ever known. Read the article on his page. Its long, but 10 minutes is a very small price to pay for hope.

I took the ten minutes to read this and was glad I did.I am surprized by how little I understand what it must be like to be over there. The constant feeling that anyone can take your life must be pretty unnerving in the beginning, the idea of getting used to it is unsettling to say the least.
Makes me think of lion tamers who think they are safe until they are mauled to death by the cats they love and trust.Or that woman who was gored by the bull she was trying to protect.Footage that is much harder to watch because you know that of all the people who were there running with the bulls she was the only one that really cared about the bull.
The marines who are over there trying to protect those people ,must always be ready to to kill everyone they meet. How sad!

I don't think its sad at all. Any Iraqi that saw this and understood its meaning would be pleased...assuming they didn't mean to attack us. The ones that want peace know that we'll destroy anyone to protect them. Marines have had a slogan for awhile now - it fits this situation quite well.
"There is no greater friend, and no worse enemy" -Gen Mattis.
Frankly the fact that the Marines there are constantly willing to destroy everything around them is just a clear statement of purpose. We mean to leave Iraq a free country ruled by Iraqis - God help you if you get in our way.
